The Dark Side Of Dairy
While we’ve been accustomed to using milk and its by-products for their health benefits, but the dark side to dairy has largely evaded notice. With modern studies, we can determine the dairy destruction of our bodies versus the so-called benefits.
The Curious Case of Casein
Casein has been in the limelight for positive reasons ever since the rise of the fitness industry. It’s a slow digesting protein which can cause varying health issues from those that are mild and almost unnoticeable, to those that are serious and potentially life threatening.
Respiratory problems
Casein leads to the over-accumulation of mucus around the respiratory tract and causes irritation and general discomfort. An irritated and clogged respiratory tract also makes you more vulnerable to allergies and illnesses such as sinusitis, asthma, common cold, etc
Bloating and indigestion
There has been a well-established link between dairy products and indigestion for those who are lactose intolerant. Almost 65% of the human population is lactose intolerant and has trouble breaking down the enzymes (lactose) found in dairy products. As a result, they may experience cramping, indigestion, bloating or even diarrhea.
Cancer
“The China Study” by Dr. T. Collin proposes a connection between the dairy-based casein protein and the development of cancer. The study concluded after lab experiments on animals that cancer growth throughout all its stages is aided by dairy based protein, specifically casein.
Thyroid Inflammation
Thyroid.org estimates there are almost 20 million people that suffer from a thyroid disorder and 60% of them are unaware of it. It’s largely women that tend to develop thyroid issues. Statistics suggest women are 5 to 8 times more likely to have thyroid problems.
Thyroid gland regulates body temperature, heart rate, and controls metabolism. Metabolism sustains every cell, organ and tissue by providing it the nutrients it breaks down from the food we eat. When our metabolism is not working at its required pace, it means that the food we eat, no matter how healthy, is not broken down to derive nutrients from it.
This can cause a plethora of issues such as:
- Chronic Fatigue
- Depression
- Cold hands and feet
- Low body temperature
- Drowsiness
- Thinning hair
- Muscle cramps
- Weight gain
Dairy offers a plethora of nutrients to us, however, there is a dark side to it i.e. casein.
